One 60-day voyage around Australia has been cancelled in the wake of the death of an older lady who was stranded by the vessel on a isolated coastal location.

The passenger had been trekking on Lizard Island with fellow passengers from the cruise ship, but parted ways from the group for a rest. The ship departed without her and returned later that day after the ship staff discovered the passenger was not present.

A major rescue mission found her person the next day.

Investigative bodies are investigating the incident, in coordination with law enforcement and the official investigator.

The CEO of the shipping company said that guests and staff on the ship were informed that the continuation of the voyage had been cancelled due to the "unfortunate death and prior engine troubles".

Via official communication, he mentioned that travelers would be issued a full refund, and said the company was working "to organize the homeward trips of the passengers via chartered flights".

Officials also released an latest communication, and said they had "delivered a order to the Master" preventing any additional guests from getting on the vessel.

The representative said that they would inspect the vessel in the port city upon its coming back.
