Even with the series lost, the siblings are still anticipating the trip.

"We will have a wonderful trip regardless," said Katie. "We have to go with that outlook."

"Naturally, it's unfortunate we aren't fighting for more, but we have invested a significant amount already."

"We will make the most of spending the festive season out there. This will be a new experience for us abroad at this time of year."

An educator, Katie is focused on enjoying the 21,000-mile round-trip as part of her Christmas holidays.

"Should the cricket disappoint, I've got golf to turn to," she added.
