It's tough for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

This is the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the record chasers, are what's still available for a side that has achieved everything.

It needed until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their batsmen to hold a record if never given the opportunity.

Ultimately, the result of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy getting a chance to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Then best known as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her bow and seven world titles have come from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

If this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Some will argue the case for final game tension. Some might respond with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was much more difficult to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in the nets, it's been a challenging time because it seemed my form was missing completely," commented Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her great strength - and an irreplaceable characteristic in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and after that Healy was in motion.

"A chance to go out there and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself that way, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

When she was out Australia required another 66 at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the belief to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, should it happen, we believe we can succeed."

Those words will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this World Cup need to hear.

In recent days a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this success following victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she wanted to have participated through the pain.
