🔗 Share this article The network's Premier Fresh Series of This Year Secures a Substantial Extension for Seasons 2 and 3. Last October, Adult Swim welcomed back its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, later that same month, the network unveiled a brand-new animated series with a markedly softer feel. Haha, You Clowns was gentle and comforting, reminiscent of a animated take of a serene talk show. In an era often marked by dark humor, this show's sincerity found an audience and turned it into a surprise hit. A Significant Investment In mid-December, Adult Swim confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for two more seasons. This gives creator Joe Cappa significant creative freedom to develop the story of the Campbell family. The series centers on three respectful teenage brothers whose central trait is their deep love for their single father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four main characters. "I am incredibly thankful to the fans of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and shared it with others," stated Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for a little longer." Executive Acclaim The official statement also included commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "radically heartfelt and oddly captivating." He thanked the fans who embraced the show and championed its distinctly quirky appeal. "All of you supported this new show, championed for it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," said Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'" A Comforting Counterpoint When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a comforting antidote" to more cynical adult animated fare. There’s something unexpectedly cozy about watching this lovable family navigate their everyday routines. At the time, creator Joe Cappa shared his goal to help comedy break out of its prevailing sarcastic tone. He traced this trend to a broader media landscape. “We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” noted Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we need to laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.” Future Seasons Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa may well help usher in that comedic shift. Or at the very least, the renewal ensures audiences additional episodes to bask in the gentle humor of the endearing Campbell clan. The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. The entire series is currently streaming on HBO Max.
